Boys High School Basketball
The program consists of student-athletes in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in the Hastings School District and meet the MSHSL eligibility requirements for age, academics, school attendance, and amateur status.
The Hastings High School boys basketball program competes in the Metro East Conference as a member of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). Conference opponents include Mahtomedi, Tartan, St. Thomas Academy, South St. Paul, Hill-Murray, Simley, Two Rivers, and North St. Paul. At the state level, Hastings competes in Class AAAA, Section 3, alongside Apple Valley, Eagan, Eastview, Rosemount, Burnsville, Park, and Bloomington Jefferson.
The Hastings boys basketball program is proud to be led by an experienced and dedicated coaching staff. Head Coach Chad Feikema is one of the longest-tenured coaches in the region, entering his 18th season after being hired in the summer of 2009. He is joined by Paul Olson, who has served 16 years as the Varsity Assistant and JV coach. The staff also includes Mike Schlottman, the B-Team coach, and Cole Pottinger, the 9th-Grade coach. Together, they provide consistent leadership and are committed to developing young men as players, teammates, and leaders on and off the court.
2026-2027 Season
Registration window for winter sports will open in mid-October. Athletes must be registered by the morning of 11/20/26 to guarantee being eligible to participate in tryouts.
There is a team meeting for all athletes trying out for High School basketball after school on Tuesday, 11/17/26 @ 2:40 pm, in the high school lecture hall.
High school practice begins on 11/23/26 for the '26-'27 season, following MSHSL guidelines.
* Note: All Traveling and Hoops Factory players receive free admission to regular-season Varsity home games when accompanied by a paying adult and presenting their player pass at the gate.
