COLLEGE BASKETBALL CAMPS

There are many camps that are at local colleges.  Some are overnight camps and some are day camps – there are so many opportunities out there. Below are some that we know about and some of our players have attended.

Boys Local Basketball Camps

Girls Local Basketball Camps

MIDWEST 3 ON 3

Midwest 3 on 3 is a great closeout and pre-curser to the regular season, with leagues for players from 3rd-12th grade. The players have their 4-6 person team and they play half court games that are officiated.  Games are usually 20 minutes running time and there is no coaching allowed.  Kids sub in and out themselves and it gives them the opportunity to have some ownership and work on skills. There are leagues all over the metro and they can be found online at: https://www.midwest3on3.com/leagues

RAIDERS EXPRESS

Raiders Express is a summer program at the Hastings High School for student-athletes focused on the development of functional strength, speed, agility, balance, coordination, flexibility, self-esteem & confidence.   Raiders Express is offered to all students that will be entering grades 6-12 at the end of summer (current grades 5-11 when registration takes place), regardless of gender or ability.

Training sessions consist of a warm up, a lifting period, a running period, and a cool down.  Workouts are tailored to age and experience.  Lifting phase consists of a comprehensive, structured program designed with multiple sport athletes in mind – at the top end, the program incorporates explosive, Olympic lifts and targets lower body, upper body, and core exercises.  Speed and conditioning phase incorporates a varied approach including (but not limited to) resistance training, over-speed training, speed endurance and agility drills.  The goal is simple: to help each athlete develop the skills to reach their maximum potential!

Training sessions are held at the high school (weight room, gym and athletic fields) and run for 6 weeks during June and July, with 24 total sessions for high school students and 12 total sessions for middle school students. High school athletes attend 4x per week (M-T-W-Th) while middle School athletes attend 2x per week (M-W or T-Th). Students are grouped by age, grade, and often gender in order to prepare developmentally appropriate sessions.

AAU LEAGUES

AAU Basketball is another off-season opportunity for basketball players.  These clubs are usually run by an entity that pulls players from a surrounding area, so it won’t just be Hastings players on your team.  While Hastings Basketball encourages off season development, we play no role in forming or promoting any AAU program/team.  Most programs hold tryouts in July/August or February/March to form teams for the following spring and summer seasons.  If you know of more clubs, please send their link to us and we will add them to our list. Below are links to specific AAU sites:

GIRLS AAU LINKS

Girls programs (usually) hold their tryouts in July/August for the following spring season.
